SpaceMap is a 3 year-old startup founded on the research output funded by US AFRL/AFOSR and Korea Government on a basic research project of computational geometric construct called Voronoi diagram. AFOSR funding started in 2016 when an AFRL scientist visited me to check the possibility of applying my Voronoi technology for solving conjunction assessment problems. Recognizing that the existing algorithms were able to solve only elementary spatial reasoning problems among few space objects, CEO founded SpaceMap to open a new horizon for all 4D space-time reasoning problems for space assets by introducing Voronoi technologies.

The idea is to imitate Google’s search strategy: Process various queries fast by taking advantage of the preprocessing database which may take significantly heavy computation.

We aim at developing a real-time platform for decision making problems for the safety, optimization, and intelligence related to space assets. Safety issues: Conjunction assessment is given in real-time; Collision avoidance is given in near real-time where tertiary conjunctions, i.e., the side-effects due to maneuver, are considered. Optimization issues: Optimal data transmission strategy through LEO constellations can be found real-time; Optimal design of new constellations can be found fast; Optimal space scanning strategy of satellites with on-board optical sensors can be found fast, etc. Intelligence issues: Fast prediction of own satellites within the weapon engagement zone (WEZ) of adversarial satellites; Early detection of adversarial maneuver and RPO, etc.

Our SpaceTalk is a new virtual meeting tool focusing on space business: It facilitates a 4D space-time visualization of space situational awareness in addition to the features of standard meeting tools. Competing and/or collaborating participants can share a space event to share different perspectives.
